About Robin Hewitt

  • I was born and raised outside of Mt. Clemens, Michigan. We lived "out in the sticks" but were within walking distance to both the library and Lake St. Clair, so I learned to read and swim before I started school.
  • I wrote my first story at the ripe old age of five, when my dog died. Curly Gows to Heven was an instant hit. This appears to be genetic, as my granddaughter says she is "Compiling a portfolio" for first grade.
  • I met the North Carolina Coast in 1998 while visiting my son at USMC Cherry Point. It was love at first sight.
  • I met my husband Doug when we were 14, but lost touch with him after high school. I spent 29 years looking for him, and in 2002 I finally found him in Mayodan, North Carolina. Forty days later, he arrived in Michigan to pick me up.
  • I started editing Doug's novels and short stories, and inevitably began writing again. Our first coauthored book The Joyous Gift of Grandparents was released May 6, 2008.
  • I started a novel on a whim, then entered and won The 2008 William F. Deeck-Malice Domestic Grant for Unpublished Writers. Excerpts of One Sweet Pickle will be available on our website soon.
